Donald Trump has been having a rough go of it lately. His poll numbers are historically low, with his approval rating in the mid-30s. The price of gas has increased by over $1.50 in the past 90 days. Inflation is up. The Strait of Hormuz is still closed.

On top of all of that, while Republicans are working diligently to redistrict their states to prevent a Democratic victory in November, it's still looking pretty likely that Democrats will at least take the House. Trump seems to view holding onto Congress as existential for his movement, and that might not happen.

Trump has been noticeably unhinged lately, both online and offline, and he's obviously not pleased with the way things are going. Meanwhile, FBI Director Kash Patel is having a very public crashout.

To add insult to injury, Trump and a team of billionaires just went to China, and Chinese President Xi Jinping is now portraying the United States as a declining empire. He's not wrong, but it's not great to hear. Xi can thank Trump for doing everything he can to lower America's standing in the world and elevate China's.

Unfortunately for Donald Trump, it doesn't seem likely that his fortunes are going to improve much anytime soon. His poll numbers surely won't be increasing significantly. The Strait of Hormuz doesn't look like it's going to suddenly reopen in the near future. The election odds might not change much for Republicans. America will remain diminished while he's in charge, and China will continue to benefit from that.
